Statement from the Family of Chauncy Glover:
“We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy. He was more than a son and brother—he was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community. His talent, warmth, and vision left an imprint on everyone who knew him, and the world is dimmer without him.
While we grieve this profound loss, we are comforted by the outpouring of love and memories shared by those who knew Chauncy as the passionate, gifted soul he was. We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn and honor his incredible legacy. He was taken from us far too soon, but his impact will be felt forever.”
About Chauncy Glover:
Chauncy Glover, the newest member of the KCAL News Anchor Team, was not only a journalist but a true community hero and leader. Born and raised in Athens, Alabama, Chauncy’s journey was defined by his deep commitment to storytelling and making a difference in people’s lives. His passion for journalism began in childhood, delivering “newscasts” to his family every Sunday, and grew into a lifelong mission to bring impactful stories to light.
Chauncy’s dedication to his community was most evident through the Chauncy Glover Project, a mentorship program he founded to support and uplift young men. Driven by a powerful moment witnessing the loss of a teenager on the streets of Detroit, Chauncy made it his mission to help young men of color achieve success, sending over 300 mentees to college and transforming countless lives. His work was recognized nationally, including by President Barack Obama and the My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
Beyond his contributions in journalism and mentorship, Chauncy was a gifted performer, having sung at the funeral of Rosa Parks, and a motivational speaker who inspired audiences across the nation. He was also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, embodying his motto, “Fear stops where faith begins.”
In October 2023, Chauncy joined KCAL News, bringing his dynamic storytelling and heart for the community to Los Angeles. His legacy will be remembered as one of compassion, resilience, and a powerful commitment to making a difference.
The Glover family, including Chauncy’s parents, Sherry and Robert Glover, and his family, appreciates the support from the community and respectfully asks for privacy during this difficult time.
Personal Note from Publicist and Friend, Jordyn Dean:
“As Chauncy’s friend and publicist, it is with a heavy heart that I share this news. Chauncy was more than just an extraordinary journalist and community leader; he was like family. To my children, he was an uncle, a steady presence who brought warmth, laughter, and wisdom into our lives. Chauncy had a rare, genuine kindness that showed up in everything he did. He helped people without asking for anything in return, simply because he wanted the best for everyone around him.
Writing this release feels like saying goodbye to a part of our family, but I am honored to share his legacy with the world. His kindness, his compassion, and the love he poured into his community will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know him. Chauncy’s impact will never fade, and his memory will always be a source of inspiration.”
